Gentry Leach

My name is Gentry Leach. I am a local artist and senior studying Art at the University of Oklahoma. Throughout my work, I reflect on what it means to be a spiritual being having a human experience. I explore how surface, color, texture, and space can deepen the viewer’s relationship to the concepts I express within my creations. I often find myself pushing and pulling the formal elements to create a visual narrative of depth that invites the audience to take a closer look. My work is a meditation on ideas around social injustice, connection to nature, intimacy, vulnerability, and self-identity. Ultimately, it is my hope that my artwork will create valuable connections across the globe while it simultaneously functions as a safe space of healing for me. I believe artistic expression has no borders and is inherently more powerful when shared with others, as creativity is at the very core of our existence on this planet.
